Hello ACOP Members! The ACOP student members have had some exciting changes lately. Starting with our 2019 Spring Conference, which had a wonderful student turnout, we have been working to implement new student specific activities. We are still working out the kinks but hope to continue improving throughout the year and take your feedback to make the 2020 Spring Conference even more enjoyable and useful for all of our students.
One notable new program that has been implemented is the Mentorship Collaborative which has been implementing partnerships between students and older students, residents or attendings. We hope this initiative is helping our students better plan for their future careers.
Another notable new activity is our monthly social media takeover in which student club chapters can take over the ACOP social media platforms to advocate for certain topics their chapter makes a special impact. This has been a great way for students to get some national recognition. Some new activities at the 2019 Spring Conference included our first ever student skills lab and multiple new speaker topics including resume building and a brief overview of different types of formula.
We can’t wait to see our student turnout at the 2020 Spring Conference. For those students who do plan to attend, don’t forget to submit abstracts/posters for the poster competition and applications for Student Trustee and Student Club of the Year. Submitting for these opportunities automatically qualifies you to apply for the PRES Fund, which has helped many students fund their attendance to the Spring Conference since its implementation in 2018. A huge thank you to the Board and other donors for making this opportunity possible!
