Call for Nominations

Nominate Your Colleague, Mentor or Friend!

The American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians (ACOP) is accepting nominations for the 2020 Harold H. Finkel, DO and Arnold Melnick, DO Community Pediatrician of the Year Award and the 2020 Career Achievement Award.

Do you know a pediatrician who is worthy of this honor?  If so, please click here to submit your nomination.  The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

2020 Harold H. Finkel, DO and Arnold Melnick, DO Community Pediatrician of the Year Award

The Harold H. Finkel, DO award was established in memory of Dr. Finkel whose illustrious career spanned over 50 years of community pediatric practice. He was known for his exceptional care and availability to his patients, his commitment to students, interns, residents, addressing community child health needs, advocating for the most vulnerable children and service to the ACOP.

We honor his memory by recognizing colleagues through this award who have embraced those values and by their actions have distinguished themselves in their community and served our profession with distinction.

In 2013 the ACOP added Arnold Melnick, DO to the name of the award. Dr. Melnick also served the ACOP in many capacities. Both Dr. Finkel and Dr. Melnick were Past Presidents of the ACOP and exceptional clinician leaders.

Award Criteria*

  1. Must be a DO pediatrician
  2. ACOP membership preferred, but not mandatory
  3. Has demonstrated community leadership in addressing the health care of children
  4. Has accomplished something innovative that has improved the care of children
  5. Has advocated for children's needs on either a local, state or national level
  6. Is recognized by peers as a respected colleague and mentor to students and residents
  7. Stands out as a role model for practicing and future pediatricians

* Candidates do not have to fulfill all of the stated criteria in 3-7 but should have distinguished themselves in one or more of these criteria.

2020 Career Achievement Award

The ACOP Career Achievement Award, formally the Distinguished Service Award, recognizes osteopathic pediatricians who have made either outstanding contributions in service to the ACOP or to osteopathic pediatrician profession in their clinical practice, or who have made major accomplishments in their careers.

Award Criteria*

  1. Must be a DO pediatrician
  2. ACOP membership preferred, but not mandatory
  3. Outstanding contributions to the ACOP
  4. Major career accomplishments
  5. Exceptional contributions to the osteopathic pediatrician profession in their clinical practice
  6. Stands out as a role model for practicing and future pediatricians

* Candidates do not have to fulfill all of the stated criteria but should have distinguished themselves in one or more of these criteria.
