Hello All ACOP Student Members,

We greatly missed seeing all of your wonderful faces at the Spring Conference this year. Although the ACOP Board and members may not be meeting in person right now, there have been some exciting changes happening in the College over the last month! As you may have heard, the ACOP will be hosting a virtual conference November 7-8, 2020 and December 5-6, 2020. During this event we will be hosting some student programing so please keep an eye on your emails for more information as the time draws closer. Additionally, we have a few student announcements!

Firstly, we would like to extend a congratulations to the Class of 2020 on their graduation and match into residency! We would like to keep in touch with all of you and hope that you will share on our student Facebook Page where you matched. Additionally, please consider renewing your membership with the ACOP as you enter your intern year! The ACOP can provide you with continuing networking, an avenue to present research, and CME credits. Additionally, we hope that you consider giving back and serving as a mentor to our upcoming students as residents and attendings have mentored you in the past.

Secondly, we would like to congratulate our Student Club of the Year winners Rocky Vista University! Rocky Vista University is one of our newest clubs and this year they absolutely blew us away with their commitment to their community and to educating their students. Over the year they held nine educational events, seven community service events, had incredible individual student involvement in community volunteer projects and research, and much more. Although we couldn’t celebrate in person, we are so thrilled to honor such an amazing organization. We look forward to the continuation of the Student Club of the Year Award as well as our PRES Fund at our next Spring Conference in Destin, FL.

Thirdly, we would like to thank all of our Student Trustee applicants this year as we had many strong applications; however, we could only choose one wonderful student for the position. We would like to give a big warm welcome to Alyssa Averhoff as she will be joining the ACOP this summer as our 2020-2022 Student Trustee. Alyssa is a rising third year medical student at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and has been extremely involved in her local ACOP student chapter creating lecture series and volunteer events as well as in research regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder, HSV-I, and Coxsackievirus B3. Along with her passion for pediatrics, she brings fantastic ideas to the ACOP to improve our mentorship and communication with student chapters. We feel honored and grateful to have her joining the ACOP family.

Additionally, we would like to congratulate our very own Roxanne Waggoner who matched pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY! We would like to extend the biggest thank you to her for all of the hard work that she has put in behind the scenes over the last two years and to her dedication to the pediatric profession. Although we will miss having her as a part of our ACOP student team, she will be continuing on with her work in the ACOP as our Intern Trustee!

Finally, we would like to thank several students who will be joining the college in several other capacities. First, we would like to welcome our new student eJournal Editor Sophie Mort from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Additionally, the CME Committee would like to welcome Rajshri Joshi from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and Kendel Ridgeway from Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine as two of our newest Student Co-chairs.

We hope that you are all staying safe and healthy. Good Luck to all of our hard-working students completing their board season!
