Hello ALL ACOP Members!

We hope that you all enjoyed another wonderful virtual conference. Although we missed seeing you all in person, we loved seeing your faces at various events throughout the weekend.

As always, we are looking to continue to expand our mentorship program and are looking for more attending, resident, and upper-level medical students to serve as mentors. If you are interested in becoming a mentor please follow the link here and if you have any question or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to us at acopstudents@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing you again at the 2021 Fall Virtual Conference! Please remember to stay connected to the College on our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Congratulations!

Student Trustee
We would like to thank all of our amazing applicants for the 2021-2023 ACOP Student Trustee Positions. We had many incredible applicants, but unfortunately, we were only able to choose one student. We would like to extend a very warm welcome to Clarisse Fres who is joining us from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Auburn Campus. Clarisse served as her local chapter ACOP President and has extensive leadership and volunteer experience within the world of pediatrics. We are honored to have her join the ACOP family and excited for her to begin working with our team.

Intern Trustee
We would like to welcome Dr. MacKenzie LeMay as our 2021-2022 Intern Trustee. Dr. LeMay recently graduated from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Carolina Campus and has matched into Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia. We are grateful to have her join the family as she has been an active member of the ACOP both nationally and locally. Dr. LeMay is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor’s Society and was awarded the Pediatric Service Award at VCOM-Carolinas. She will serve as an incredible leader and mentor to the students and residents of the ACOP and we are honored to welcome her to the team.

Additional Student Chairs
We would like to welcome and congratulate several other students on their selection for leadership positions within the ACOP. Student Doctor Karina Delgado will be entering into a brand-new role for the ACOP as the Student Social Media Chair. We are excited to have her join us and help boost our social media presence as a College. Additionally, we have Student Doctors Timothy Crowe and Jasmine Yu joining the CME committee as our CME Student Co-Chairs to help us plan exciting new material for our upcoming conferences. And finally, we would like to welcome Student Doctor Magela Arias. Maggie is our new PULSE Editor and has already started her role with this very edition! Congratulations to all of our new student leaders and welcome to the ACOP family!

Statement from RVUCOM
We are so grateful to receive the 2021 ACOP Student Club of the Year Award! Over the last year, we encountered more challenges than we ever anticipated during our medical school careers. However, our ACOP members committed to thinking outside the box and finding ways to positively impact our community: we successfully adapted our Food, Fun, Fitness curriculum to an online learning format for local elementary schools to utilize, we hosted a virtual 5K where we raised over $650 for a neighboring elementary school, and we organized a March Madness bracket that allowed us to donate $480 to a Spanish-speaking clinic.

We also took advantage of the virtual school environment and hosted ten talks over Zoom from renowned pediatricians and pediatric specialists all over the country. We are now gearing up for our annual “Helmet Heads” event where we will distribute helmets to children across the Denver metro area. This year, we filmed pre-recorded videos about the importance of wearing a helmet and lessons on how to make sure a helmet fits properly.
