Certifying Board Services Task Force

In a previous PULSE, the AOA’s Osteopathic Continuous Certification (OCC) process was outlined in detail. We hope this assisted in clarifying the requirements for all five of the components. We also announced that the AOBP staff would host a booth at the 2016 ACOP SpringConference. This booth was very successful with many diplomates visiting and asking questions about their personal OCC status. We greatly appreciated the participation!
What’s New
OCC was implemented in January of 2013 and we have already seen some evolution of this process. We understand how changes in a short time can add to the confusion. In order to ensure the AOA OCC process is a streamlined, efficient process for the diplomats, AOA leadership appointed the Certifying Board Services Task Force. This task force was charged with evaluating current requirements and processes and to develop recommended changes for the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists (BOS) to consider.
We are very excited about some of the recommendations that have been suggested and look forward to sharing them with you. The BOS will be finalizing their recommendations to the AOA Board of Trustees to review and act on the OCC resolutions at their February 2017 meeting. The AOBP staff will host a booth again at the 2017 ACOP Conference where we hope to share these exciting changes with you.
